Rate Automation Inc. builds and runs safety compliance software for Alberta contractors. Reese and Nate, the founders, are the people who answer the phone, sit in the first-week check-in, and get the message when an alert fails to send.
Why this, why here
The obligation is real. The binder is in the truck.
An Alberta contractor carries the OHS Act, the Regulation and the Code whether or not anyone is watching: hazard assessments before work starts, workers who hold the tickets the task needs, inspections that find things and someone who fixes them, a record of all of it that survives the year. Most companies we meet are doing the work. The record is the part that fails, because it lives on paper in a truck, in a supervisor's phone, and in one person's memory.
We built Rate so the record is made where the work happens, by the crew, with no signal, and lands in one place the office can search. Not a portal the safety coordinator fills in after the fact. A form a foreman will actually use at seven in the morning with gloves on.
How we work
Four commitments, as practiced.
One crew first.
Every company starts with one crew and one form set. If the crew does not file from their phones in the first week, nothing else we built matters, and we would rather find that out on a small scale.
The office approves anything that leaves.
The software drafts reminders, alerts and follow-ups. A named person at your company says yes before anything reaches a worker, a customer or a regulator. Every time.
Your records are yours.
Every form, ticket, inspection and sign-in can be exported in plain formats at any time. If you leave, you leave with the binder.
No customer names without written permission.
We do not publish who uses Rate, or any number about them, until they have agreed in writing. Until then the proof is the product, the price and the guides.
What we are not
Not a safety consultant. Not a law firm. Not your certifying partner.
Rate makes the evidence exist, on the day, in one place. Whether a hazard assessment is adequate for a task, whether a course satisfies an owner, whether a program passes its audit: those are your calls, checked by your certifying partner and, where it matters, qualified Alberta counsel. We say so on every guide and we mean it.
